Fourways Mall Christmas Concert
On Friday night, Fourways Mall shoppers were treated to an awesome variety concert featuring over 200 pupils from schools in the local area. Opening up the evening to rapturous applause were the extremely talented Marimba Band of Saint Stithians College, lead by their enthusiastic band leader, Mike Sibanda. The audience also enjoyed excellent performances by the Choirs from Crawford College Fourways and Lonehill as well as Dainfern College.
Patti Van Der Ploeg, who joined Dainfern College earlier this year, said that such events are a great opportunity for children to experience performing on stage to a large audience, building their self confidence. This was true of some of the very brave soloists and duets who entertained the crowd on the piano, violin, flute, guitar and many more. The A-team Drama group from Heronbridge College performed a modern mime/dance to a popular current song. Performing for the third year now, this unique mime team has grown under the leadership of Jill Avis, who also commended Fourways Mall for hosting this community event.
Newly appointed marketing manager for Fourways Mall, Samantha Meddows-Taylor, said "Each and every pupil who performed on Friday night are extremely talented and we thank everyone involved in making the traditional Fourways Mall Christmas Concert so successful". We look forward to next year's Christmas event! |
