Kids shriek as SHREK comes to town!

The spectacle of hundreds of excited youngsters, waving or wearing SHREK masks and ears and wildly calling the name of the world’s most famous green ogre was what greeted visitors to Fourways Mall in Johannesburg on Friday afternoon (June 22).

The masses of kids and their parents, who’ve come to know and love SHREK through “SHREK” and “SHREK 2”, were at the mall to get up-close-and-personal with this adorable green ogre who can be seen in “SHREK The Third” at Ster-Kinekor cinemas across the country from Friday, June 29.

In the latest rollicking adventure in the land of Far Far Away, SHREK and his trusted companions, Donkey and Puss In Boots must find a suitable person for the throne after King Harold’s sudden death.

For the ogre who stole the heart of Princess Fiona and prefers swamp life to the luxuries of a palace, his latest adventure would have prepared him well for the tumultuous reception he received from the large crowd at Fourways Mall.

For SHREK’s young fans, nothing at the party they were treated to prior to the ogre’s arrival, could compare to getting a hug and having a photograph taken with this famous character.

Apart from meeting him the hundreds of kids who attended also received ice cream cake, were entertained by Jerry the Clown and saw a comedy show. One lucky youngster also won an ice cream cake sponsored by Milky Lane and a SHREK 1 & 2 DVD box set from Phase 2 CD’s in a colouring in competition.

To say that SHREK’s visit, courtesy of Ster-Kinekor Classic Fourways Mall, was a resounding success would be an understatement.

As the kids left the mall chattering animatedly about their hero many of these children’s friends, who weren’t lucky enough to see SHREK, will be left green with envy when tales of the afternoon’s happenings are told at schools across Johannesburg this week.
